Responsive Web Design - Introduction

Responsive Web Design is a web design approach that aims to create websites that provide optimal viewing experiences across a wide range of devices, including desktops, laptops, tablets, and smartphones. The goal of responsive design is to ensure that the content and layout of a website adjust automatically based on the device and screen size on which it is being viewed.

In the past, web designers would create multiple versions of a website, each designed for a specific device or screen size. However, with the explosion of different devices and screen sizes, it became increasingly difficult to create separate designs for each device. Responsive design solves this problem by using flexible layouts, images, and cascading style sheets (CSS) that can adapt to different devices and screen sizes.

Responsive web design not only improves the user experience on mobile devices, but it also enhances the search engine optimization (SEO) of a website. Google has explicitly stated that mobile-friendliness is a ranking factor in search results. Therefore, it's essential to ensure that your website is responsive to rank well in search engine results pages (SERPs).
